Buy Garden Plants online from Amazon

LP Plants provides you with basics of how to choose plants and how to plant them to give them the best start in life.

When you decide to buy your garden plants online you are relying on the retailer to ensure that the plants are of good quality and that the description is a true reflection of the plant's characteristics. As soon as you receive the plant you should check it carefully and return it if it is not to the standard you expected. To see the wide variety of plants available from Amazon click here.

If you prefer not to buy your plants online there is a vast number of outlets available to choose from including your local DIY store which tend to offer excellent value for money. To help you choose a healthy plant which will give you years of joy there are a few basic rules to follow. First check the label; the flowers should match the picture or description; if not, it may be labelled incorrectly so it is best not to take a chance. The leaves should be healthy, clear and free of pests or diseases and the stems and branches should be sturdy and evenly spread around a central stem. The surface of the compost should be free of moss and liverworts and you should avoid plants where the compost has shrunk from the pot sides due to drying out. If the plant looks healthy, but the roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot you can still buy it and cut the pot off carefully.

To help you decide which types of plant are best suited to your garden and the planting position you have in mind, our sister site, The Gardening Register has a guide to the different types of plants available. You will find a short description to aid identification, notes on how to prepare the site and how to look after the plant afterwards. Click here for more detail.
